Woods out for a month

april15_woodstree_299x323.jpg

Yeah, yeah, I know, more news about Tiger Woods. But at least this is not about how he dominated a tournament--to the contrary, actually. Woods underwent arthroscopic surgery today on his left knee, which is actually the second time he's had this done on the same knee due to cartilage damage. Maybe it's all of those shots where he comes out of his shoes hitting it a mile :)

By having this surgery, he will be out for approximately a month, and by that, it will mean he misses the Players Championship--but--he should be back by June for sure, which will put him in position to be in the US Open. The difference is--will this really affect his game though? To the negative? Having a month lay off from any sport is usually huge for athletes, but we ARE talking about Tiger Woods here.

Woods noted that he played through the pain at the Masters and that he wanted to wait to have the surgery on purpose so he could play at the Masters, and while I don't think that is an excuse, you do have to wonder as to really how much that did affect things--I mean, we're talking about a MAJOR part of the golf game with your knees, and yet he STILL finished in 2nd....And there was not any discussion as to whether this pain had been evident during his streak or not, but even if that was the case---wow. Ok, I'll stop fawning...for now :)
