Wilson Staff 50 Golf Ball Review

As you may have been able to tell in the first few ball reviews, we are going from the higher-end balls to the lower-end--in terms of price. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that there is less quality from each--because they boast different items for different strengths (needs). This time we're focusing on the Wilson Staff 50.

If this ball would have been released a few years ago with its compression at 50, it would have literally been laughed at as a dead ball of sorts. But this one is relatively soft and lively. The secret ingredient is its low-compression, yet resilient, rubber core. Of course, the idea is that it's supposed to be for shorter irons and for control around the green. But it does more than that.

I was extremely surprised that a low compression ball provided this much distance and spin combined. I was driving it long and spinning balls back on the greens from as little as 60 yards. And at a good cost again 16/dozen, it's worth the try for any golfer.
