Wie misses another cut; this time in Edmonton

Michelle Wie, the one-time prodigy who was bestowed the label of being the "Tiger Woods" of Women's Golf because of going pro before she could drive, has missed another cut on the tour. This time it was at the Canadian Open in Edmonton, where cagey veteran Juli Inkster was leading after two rounds.

Many are blaming Wie's woes (sounds like something from the Princess Bride) on her wrist injuries. When asked, Wie noted that it was frustrating to see such "high scores" when she didn't feel she played all that bad. Sorry, there, sweetheart, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Sorry to go old school on everyone there, but let's face it--this is another piece of evidence that there are too many young athletes forced into the limelight and pressure of winning too early--I guess I look at a player like Woods' who got a college degree, paid his dues on the amateur tour, and was ready when he got his pro card--what are these people accomplishing by sending their teens into the pros so early--it seems like golf and tennis are now the "go-to" sports for early fame--hasn't anyone taken a lesson from the NBA and the problems these children undergo?

I do hope that Wie does continue to forge ahead and eventually becomes the player many thought she should be right now, but am I surprised at her struggles? Nope. Saddened, mostly, with a pinch of "I told you so"....
