Weekley smoking (again) at Verizon

WeekleyVerFri_299x200.jpg

Let's face it. Boo Weekley hasn't exactly been tearing up the tour this year. He's definitely been in the thick of things a few times, but nothing that really where he has posed an immediate threat late in the "race". And there's also the fact that being a repeat winner on the tour has been tough going as well. But in one tournament, the Verizon Heritage, Weekley is changing all of that.

Firing a 65 which gave him seven straight rounds in the 60s at Hilton Head, which is second only to Nick Price's nine in a row. After he won in stunning fashion last year by chipping in on the last two holes to upend Ernie Els, he started today one shot back from Lucas Glover, and after two holes he lost another shot. But then he suddenly started his luck on a hot streak--by doing what else? Chipping in on the third!

The big hitter from Florida has often been a media darling with his wit and "aww shucks" attitude, but he's now the scary one out on the course to other players--he's definitely in his element, and if he closes it out with another win, perhaps he can really get the rest of his year going with great momentum.
