Stricker again works OT for WGC win

sstrick.jpg

Steve Stricker has always been a player that, normally in the clutch, is a prime-time player. He has been one of those types of golfers that continue to get better with age, and his number one seeding in the Sam Snead bracket of the World Golf Championships Match Play is evidence enough of his ability to win big.

But in the first couple of rounds, he's had to sweat more than Shaquille O'Neal at the free throw line. In his second "OT" match in as many rounds, Stricker defeated Hunter Mahan in 20 holes. While his bracket has a 15 seed, 5 and 6 seed left, the 15 seed is Colin Montgomerie, who has looked razor-sharp. It will be interesting to see if Stricker's longer matches in the first two rounds will have an effect on his upcoming play, and ultimately, deep into the weekend.

Surprisingly, the person who had the most dominant match in the second round wasn't Tiger Woods--it was Jonathan Byrd, who defeated Andres Romero 6 and 4. On the flip side, in the same bracket, it took 25 holes for Henrik Stenson to beat Trevor Immelman. This is a great tournament!!
