Solus Series 7.1 Wedge Review

The Solus Series 7.1 is much improved: more grooves closer together than traditional wedges, combined with a high center of gravity, generate additional spin and a boring flight. There's as much as 18° bounce when you open the face, which comes in handy from thick rough or sand. This is an awesome club, even though the price tag is a bit on the steep side (120.00).

The Crescent Cut design allows the player to play the club with a lot of control on surfaces where no bounce is wanted. Solus Golf has also incorporated a Relieved Heel Area into its design, which prevents the face from closing on any open face lob shot. I tried this club out at the range and on one hole (it's all I was really "allowed" to use), and I have to say, even though my execution with it wasn't ideal, this thing is like a heat seeker. It really is a very smooth club that you feel throughout the swing and allows for superb control.

If you are looking for an array of degrees, the Solus can provide it. It's a good club--my only qualm is that it is a bit pricey for what I would go after in a wedge.
