Rules of Golf to be tweaked

Think golf is not already confusing enough with scoring? Try remembering changes now--even subtle ones. Golf's governing boards said they have amended 28 of the 34 rules starting in 2008, with only a few significant changes. (YEAH RIGHT)

One of them is when a ball deflects off a player, which really affected the 2003 Masters and Jeff Maggert, who was leading and then had a shot carom off the lip of a bunker and hit his chest. He took a two stroke penalty and then went on to get a triple bogey on the hole. He never recovered from the hole. Under the new rule, it is only a one stroke penalty.

Other changes include being able to lift a ball from a water hazard or bunker for identification purposes and reducing the penalty for carrying a non-conforming club to two strokes per hole and max four strokes per round.

I'm so glad. I can finally sleep at night.
