PGA Tour Preview: Wyndam Championship

The third oldest event on the PGA schedule, the Wyndam Championship, will be played this weekend at Greensboro, North Carolina. Not only is the tradition surrounding the tournament great, but this will also be the last chance players have to earn points for the FedEx Playoffs that begin next week at The Barclays.

You may think, "What?" Wyndham Championship? Huh? Well, keep in mind that last year it was the Chrysler Classic (Davis Love took home the trophy). Forest Oaks has actually hosted this event since 1977.

Forest Oaks is a 7000+ course, Par 72 which features 3 par 5s that stretch beyond 550 yards. This course was built on large rolling hills and many of its greens are elevated. There are many grass bunkers and sand bunkers throughout the course. Additionally, there are water hazards that come into play on many holes. Davis Love redesigned the course in 2002 and rebuilt several greens. (How convenient that he won last year, eh?)
