PGA Tour Preview: BMW Championship

The BMW Championship is being played at Cog Hill in Lemont, IL (I actually went by it just two days ago!). This course is amazing--it is ranked 60th among America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses by Golf Digest, has provided exciting finishes and thrilling golf as the site of Chicago's only PGA TOUR championship and it features large, tiered bentgrass greens; tree-lined, bentgrass fairways; 110 sand bunkers and water hazards on six holes.

Of course, the biggest news about this tournament thus far is that Phil Mickelson will not be attending after his victory in the Deutsche Bank last week. FedEx Cup officials are scratching their heads after huge names as Woods, Els, and now Mickelson have opted to skip out of tournaments for different reasons, as they had previously hoped that everyone would be vying for the new trophy. Obviously, it has not gone the way they had wished so far.

However, there are still some big names playing the classic Par 71 course, so be on the lookout for some great action this week in the heart of the midwest. Enjoy!
