North Carolina Men arrested for counterfeit golf gear

Many people use eBay for goods and services. Many people know that using this route takes out the middleman and therefore gives you wonderful prices. However, usually if something seems too good to be true--it probably is. There's obviously a reason why there are policies on the auction site for fraudulent items and unauthorized replicas, and three North Carolina men found out the extent of those policies--in a very big way.

Investigators from the North Carolina secretary of state's trademark office say Donald G. Fondrie and Warren E. Fondrie, both of the town of Vass, have been charged with two felony counts of possessing counterfeit trademarked goods with intent to sell. A third man, Pei-I Chou, was arrested in a search of the Fondries' home by state and U.S. Postal Service investigators.

Evidently, the three were involved in selling counterfeit golf gear online, after several complaints to authorities on fake LaCoste shirts and the like. The storefront on ebay was used to sell imported goods branded with fake brand names.

There's something to be said for paying retail price.....
