The latest One Platinum features an updated dimple pattern for higher ball flight and more carry distance. (I used to think they were just trying to be cute with their patterns). A softer urethane cover delivers smoother feel and more spin on short shots than the previous One Platinum. Its reworked core (softened inner core and firmed-up outer core) contributes to lower spin rates off the driver.
The 40.00 a dozen is typical of Nike balls, but it is all that and a bag of chips? On the green, the Platinum checks up pretty nicely. Let's just get this straight--I am not a master of the approach shot, so to see a ball get up and then stop without me having to really do any magic, it was remarkable. Hitting the longer irons 3-7 iron played pretty nicely--I really liked the feel coming off the club.
I really do like this ball overall--it's not something that boasts distance or feel--it's a great combo of both. If you're willing to shell out the dough, it's worth it.
