Montgomerie wants to play his way onto Ryder Cup

As the barbs continue to fly between European Ryder Cup Team Captain Nick Faldo and Colin Montgomerie, the Scottish Montgomerie has claimed that he does not want an exemption and to be basically "given" a spot on the team, he wants his play this year to win him a spot. That oughta shut Faldo up for a bit, right? Yeah, sure.

I love Montgomerie. This guy has nothing to prove by playing his way onto the Euro team--I mean, he's an icon in the Ryder Cup, and Faldo just keeps flapping his gums and provoking not only bad feelings with the guys he's supposed to be teammates with, but it can't be all that great for team chemistry or leadership, wouldn't you think?

The fiery Scotsman will more than likely back up his words, but you can be sure that if he doesn't, Faldo will have a Page 1 article and quote for the event. Either way, it should be interesting to see how things play out--literally.
