LPGA to have first Pro Am in almost seven years

The LPGA has been working on getting a pro-am set up for a while now--and finally, it's going to happen! At Turnberry in Aventura, FL, the Ladies PGA tour will hold this event on April 24-27.

The tourney will be sponsored by Stanford Financial, and not only are they spending the money to have the tournament, they are also donating for every eagle that is accomplished--directly to St Jude's Research. This is the same thing that the company had done last year for their tournament in the PGA.

The tournament will be for a 2 million dollar purse. This event was supposed to be scheduled a while ago, but a Jewish event for Passover held it up--now the details have been ironed out, so let's play!

This is a great thing for the LPGA--they need to have more pro-ams, in my opinion, to help boost the popularity of the sport. Having more individuals involved on the amateur level could be a boon for the tour--we'll see how this turns out.
