Just when everything appears boring in the world of golf, John Daly swoops in to save the day. If you haven't heard, JD showed up at the course in Memphis this morning with red streaks across his face, evidence of the fight he and his blushing bride had last night. It turns out that JD filed a police report against his wife that accuses her of attempting to stab the big guy with a steak knife. And you thought the Daly's were vegans!
As you probably know, JD's been married and divorced before. Like fifteen times or so. His latest wife, Sherrie, is a true prize. Daly met her in 2001 at a tournament, and they married seven weeks later. In 2005 Sherrie and her parents were charged with running a drug and illegal gambling ring, which led to her five-month jail sentence in 2006. (When will PGA Tour Tim Finchem finally address the rampant problem of tour wives operating illegal drug and gambling enterprises?! I'm sure everyone remembers when Amy Mickelson's meth lab got busted last year.)
Sometime after Sherrie Daly got out of the pokey last year she decided to file for divorce. The following day JD said, "You can't fire me, I quit!" and personally filed for divorce the next day. A month later Daly announced that the proceedings were on hold. And now the latest incident.
It's a shame that JD's personal life always seems to get in the way of his career, especially when things are going so well. What's that you say? John's career isn't going so well? Sure, John's been playing only slightly better than me, and the only reason he even finds a place to play is the freak show sponsor exemptions he gets, but have you noticed that JD has a new wine label that's recently hit the market? That's right, he's got three new wines out including the "Fairway Range" and the "Perfect Round", both named after two golf concepts that JD has no personal knowledge of. Be sure to check out Daly's wine collection by clicking here.
