Holmes now 2 for 3 in FBR Open, Oh for everything else

holmestrophy.jpg

How odd. It's one thing to be a strong player at static events like Augusta or Dubai or Pebble Beach or Hilton Head, but it's a strange thing that a player who has only been on the tour for a little over 2 years (in their third) wins the same event 2 times out of the three times he's played it--especially with the normal quality of competition.

But J.B. Holmes proved everyone wrong, hitting 2 birdies on a hole that he had not birdied all tournament long--and after blowing a four stroke lead---and having to face one of the better players in golf, Phil Mickelson, in a playoff. As you can see, the picture shows Holmes hoisting his trophy high. An even odder thing about this? Holmes hasn't sniffed victory in any other tournament throughout the short-lived career he has had on the PGA tour.

Regardless, you can't take anything away from such a clutch performance. Even old Lefty should be tipping his cap for that type of play, even though I am sure he'd much rather have seen Holmes choking some more. I know who I've got my money on next year when the FBR Open rolls around again....
