Heffernan to represent Canada at 2007 World Golf Championships

Partnering with 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir, Wes Heffernan will be representing Canada at the Mission Hills World Cup of Golf from November 19-25, 2007. Weir and Heffernan were selected to represent Canada as the top Canadians in the World Golf Rankings. Weir is currently ranked 45th while Heffernan moved up to 402nd after a Canadian Tour season that saw him win twice at the Northern California Classic and Riviera Nayarit Classic and finish fifth on the Rolex Order of Merit.

Up to 28 nations of two member teams -- including China as first time host -- will participate in the prestigious event which will offer a purse of $5 Million. The tournament will be held at the Jose Maria Olazabal-designed Olazabal Course at Mission Hills Golf Club.(Who woulda thunk it :)

The Canadian partners will attempt to become just the fourth Canadian pair to bring the trophy to Canadian soil and the first since Dan Halldorson and Dave Barr turned the trick in 1985. Good luck, guys!
