Experts leaning towards Hoffman to take Frys.com title

The desert is sometimes daunting to golfers, but for those entering the Las Vegas Frys.com PGA event, they are simply frothing at the mouth. The low scores should soar this week, and when you put together the abilities of every pro out there, one would think all it takes is a hot streak to put things away. Is this true? According to the experts of the tour, no.

7 experts were polled who they think would win, and 3 of them spared no time in saying Charley Hoffman. While he appears he would be more comfortable with a surfboard rather than on a golf course, the evidence supports these hunches. Hoffman hit a lull after his first PGA TOUR win at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic at the start of the year, but he looks to have gotten back on track. Hoffman hasn't missed a cut in his last four starts and has finished in the top 25 in each of those events, highlighted by a tie for fifth at the Turning Stone Resort Championship. Vegas is also home to Hoffman, so that always plays a factor in comfortability and desire when it comes down to sheer will.

Other expert picks included Charles Howell III, who I would say has a great shot, Scott Verplank, and a couple others. I can agree with why the experts are going for Hoffman, but I say Howell's steadiness, booming game, and ability to withstand the pressure should give him an edge this week if it comes down to picking Hoffman or Howell.
