Choi looking good, hoping to hold onto lead

kchoi.jpg

As of this writing, K.J. Choi is leading the Sony in Hawaii by 4 shots after 4 holes, and his record is that when he has lead after 54 holes he has never lost. However, as we saw in evidence by last week's Mercedes Benz' classic showdown, that anything this season seems to have a possibility of happening. And with Rory Sabbatini hot on his heels, it could end being very close in the end.

If Choi ends up winning, it will be the first winner in the Sony that goes wire to wire in almost a decade. Choi has been sharp all week long with his accuracy and his putter has been on fire. And the sad thing is that his gallery hasn't been the most hyped--it's been by PGA teen/rookie/Hawaii native Tadd Fujikawa. Maybe it's because Choi's personality and game isn't all hype and flashy. He is consistent and executes like the golf version of the San Antonio Spurs. They win, and that's all that matters. Still, he is popular in Hawaii and many carried around South Korean flags in support of the budding star.

Sabbatini shot a 66 on Saturday and has been charging up. Will he be able to catch Choi and force another playoff like the showdown at the Benz last week? Tune in now!!!
