Cabrera drives his way to exhibition win

The PGA Grand Slam of golf is just an exhibition--but don't tell Angel Cabrera that. The big-hitting Cabrera brought out his driver whenever he could and played the "high risk high reward" aggressive approach to the tourney in Bermuda--which resulted in a playoff win over Padraig Harrington.

The driver play gave him the best of both worlds--literally. It put him in dire trouble on the opening hole, leading to a triple bogey that left him five shots behind. And it rescued Cabrera at the end of an exciting afternoon at Mid-Ocean Club, with two booming drives on the par-5 18th, which then lead to a eagle and the playoff.

Not many thought such an entertaining finish was possible. Harrington led by four shots with 11 holes to play and appeared to hold off any attempt to dethrone him from three other players. However, Cabrera finished birdie-eagle, and the playoff was on--the outspoken Harrington was speechless.

Both missed the 18th green and made pars, and Harrington got up-and-down at the 17th to keep the playoff going. Cabrera pounded another tee shot on the third extra hole at No. 18, hit a 4-iron to 18 feet. He needed only two putts for birdie and the victory after Harrington hit into a deep bunker off the tee and still had 4 feet left for par when it ended.

I love Cabrera's attitude--it's like John Daly but with talent. (Whoops, sorry, John, don't kill me--or at least don't send your wife after me...)
