Austin's PGA performance earns Presidents Cup spot

Woody Austin, who like Rory Sabbatini, just had to shoot his mouth off about Tiger (he claimed that the day that Woods shot his 63 that he outplayed him, even though he shot 70), still proved that he has some "gumption" by having a great last two days of the PGA, earned himself a spot on the President's Cup team by placing 2nd in the major.

Austin went from 17th to 10th, solidifying his spot. He noted that his personality is very suitable for an event like this, and like Tiger, he claims he is very emotional and "out there". Woody--please--stop the commentary on Tiger and concentrate on yourself. Good grief, man!

Jack Nicklaus, captain of the American team, will make his two captain's picks today. The rumor mill is swirling about the candidates, but the most likely will be Lucas Glover and Hunter Mahan. Either way, having the "Golden Bear" as the leader can't be a bad thing for the Americans, who have looked less than stellar in recent cup play. Perhaps having Austin on the team will be a great thing and he can get into the Europeans heads with his antics instead of obsessing about Tiger. Anything is better than nothing!
