American Team needs a hand: Oberholser out

Arron Oberholser pulled out of golf's World Cup on Monday with a recurring hand injury that will require surgery, and U.S. PGA Tour officials were searching for a replacement for the American team. Oberholser was the highest-ranked American to accept a spot in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup, to be played Nov. 22-25 in China, and he selected Sean O'Hair as his partner.

This is bad news for the American team, because not only will it be hard for them to find a replacement--period--but the World Cup is held the week of Thanksgiving. According to the standings, the next in line would be Scott Verplank and then David Toms. While neither is no slouch, Oberholser had been having a great year and would have been a force to be reckoned with, in my opinion.

In regard to the injury, Oberholser said that his doctors have declared that he should be ready for the 2008 season--however, his game may take a bit of a detour, because hand injuries are always hard to tell in terms of performance for the short-term. Good luck in your recovery!!
