Jason Day is known as a big hitter with a smooth putter--not too many people can claim this together--generally, most players are either one or the other. Likewise, Day is not exactly a proven tour player--but he could be--very soon.
Day qualified for the PGA Tour after finishing fifth in the nationwide tour--which is not all that great considering--but when you factor in that he only had 19 starts--it is certainly something to consider. The young Australian often has been looked at as being a little too ahead of himself, since he didn't want to go to college and thought going pro was the safe bet--and he started out strong, but didn't go beyond that.
But now--he's continued to rise back to the tour and could be a force next season. And all things considered, Australia seems to be the hotbed for new talent and great golfers--since 17 of the top 150 are from Down Under. You may want to count Jason Day into that number.
