125--The Magic Number

While many people may be thinking about when they can work in going to Disney during this week's event in Orlando, FL for the Children's Miracle Network sponsored by uber-evil WalMart, the number of the purse is 4.6 million. But the number many will be focusing on is 125--the cut off for those earning their PGA card for the proceeding year.

This is the week that lasts a year and defines the year. The PGA doesn't have one playoff season; it has two, and this week's tournament conducted on Disney's Magnolia and Palm courses is the last event--period.

On the line, first and foremost, are playing privileges for 2008. Among players ranked 110 to 170 on the money list, just seven are sitting out, and most of those absent really don't have a choice due to injury or other factors. They are separated by about $580,000.

The drama is palpable. So, while some of the golf fathers that are comfortable with their position plan on when they'll ride Space Mountain, the others will be wondering if they'll be riding anything for 2008....Stay tuned!
